...an adventurer all his life. He became a mountain climber at age nine, turned "pro" guide at age nineteen. Throughout his life and in his vocation, he has taught and guided thousands of other aspiring adventurers. Bob's teaching and guiding activities are however, more about facilitating others' personal and spiritual growth. Bob believes that there is no better way to learn and grow than to risk standing on the literal and metaphorical "edges" of life. These edges vary in nature and character for each person - for some, sharing one's life story can be risky, sharing ones burdens-risky, forgiving others-risky, forgiving one's self-risky, searching for God- risky, accepting God's grace-risky. Life is risk. Life is story. Life is adventure. Bob's vision and calling is about inviting others to step towards their "edges” and learn how to “dance” on those edges. Bob has stood on many literal edges during his life as a climber and guide - with thousands of feet worth of risk of injury and death. He has tied himself to others and risked their pulling him to death. He has tied himself to others to keep them from death.
Bob has been “dancing” with brain cancer since 1998.
